ARDF Team USA Enjoys Success in Bulgaria with Seven Medals

Команда США по спортивной радиопеленгации добилась успеха в Болгарии, завоевав семь медалей.
Пятнадцать лучших охотников за спрятанными радиопередатчиками из Соединенных Штатов возвратились домой из Болгарии после 18-го Чемпионата мира и Кубка мира по спортивной радиопеленгации (ARDF) и привезли 7 медалей. Соревнования стартовали 30 августа классическим забегом на 80-метровом диапазоне в рамках Кубка Мира. Кубок Мира — это дополнительные соревнования в личном первенстве, которые предшествовали Чемпионату Мира по спортивной радиопеленгации. В Кубке Мира приняло участие восемь членов сборной команды США.
30 августа на классическом забеге в диапазоне 80-метров Вадим Афонькин (KB1RLI) из Массачусетса стат третьим в категории М40 и завоевал бронзовую медаль. Он обнаружил все необходимые радиопередатчики за 1:02:43, отставая от Александра Шейниса из России, который завоевал золото. Минимальная длинна дистанции по группе М40 составила 5.6 километра. В среду, 31 августа на классическом забеге Кубка Мира по спортивной радиопеленгации на двухметровом диапазоне Алла Межевая из Иллинойса завоевала серебрянную медаль в категории W35, обнаружив все необходимые радиопередатчики на 5.8 километровой дистанции за 1:18:53, отставая на четыре минуты от победителя — Стелианы Матеевой из Болгарии.
На соревнованиях в дисциплине спортивная радиопеленгация — спринт Афонькин взял «золото» в категории М40. Он обнаружил все 10 маяков на дистанции 2.7 километра всего за 21:09. В этот же день капитан сборной команды США Руф Брумер WB4QZG из Северной Каролины взяла бронзу в категории W60. На следующий день она завоевала бронзовую медаль в дисциплине спортивная радиопеленгация — радиоориентирование (фоксоринг). Она обнаружила все 7 требуемых микромаяков на дистанции 2.5 километра за 1:11:37.
8 сентября, в течение соревнований Чемпионата Мира по спортивной радиопеленгации между национальными командами Афонькин выиграл личную бронзу. Он финишировал с результатом 1:11:52 на 5.85 километровой дистанции в классическом забеге на диапазоне 2 метра . Брумер и Кария Лич KC7BLA привезли домой командные бронзовые медали в тот же самый день по категории W60. Они преодолели 4,25-километровую дистанцию в классическом забега на диапазоне 80 метров.
Более 400 участников представлявших 39 стран преодолевали дистанции рядом с Варной, популярным курортом Черноморского побережья. Участники подразделялись на 6 мужских и 5 женских категорий в соответствии с Правилами, установленными Международным радиолюбительским союзом ИАРУ (IARU).
Сборная команда США включала 9 мужчин и 6 женщин из 8 штатов возрастом от 26 до 74 лет. Они были включены в команду за превосходное выступление в Чемпионате США по спортивной радиопеленгации — 2016(2016 USA ARDF Championships) в Техасе и в Чемпионате США по спортивной радиопеленгации — 2015 в Колорадо.
